Accused arrested, ornaments recovered

A man, who was involved in burglaries and robberies, was arrested by the city police and 300 gram gold ornaments and 2 kg silver articles were recovered from him.

Giving details to the media on Monday, Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy said that the accused N. Mahendra (32) of Gajulamanyam village in Chittor district, was staying at Drivers’ Colony, Gajuwaka. The accused was involved in seven criminal cases in the past and had served a one-year jail sentence at the Central Prison in Visakhapatnam in the past.

Mr. Shivadhar Reddy said that after release from the prison in March 2012, the accused got back to his old ways. He had committed a burglary at the house of an employee of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant at Aganampudi on October 1, 2012 by breaking open the backdoor.

The accused was arrested by Steel Plant Inspector N. Kalidas and SI N. Ganesh and their team at old Gajuwaka while he was going to dispose of the stolen property on Sunday.

The Police Commissioner commended the Inspector, SI and head constables D. Srinivasa Raju, V. Venkata Rao (Parawada), G. Appala Raju, N. Murali and K. Satish.
