The opening of development centres by two big ticket projects Conduent and Franklin Templeton and Innovation Solutions would pave the way to make Visakhapatnam into one of the leading IT hubs of the country, IT Principal Secretary K. Vijayanand said on Thursday.
He told The Hindu that they were initiating several measures to create the ecosystem so that many global players would invest in Visakhapatnam, the largest commercial hub of Sunrise Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Vijayanand said their attempts to showcase Visakhapatnam as a fintech valley was evoking an encouraging response with the creation of a used case repository and incubation of several innovative startups. “We are pretty confident that the development of campuses by Conduent and Franklin Templeton will promote Brand Vizag in a big way,” he said. He said Cyberabad was also created with a small beginning. “Then I was the Joint Collector of Ranga Reddy district when Microsoft launched their campus with just five employees,” he said.
While Franklin Templeton and its technology partner Innova Solutions will create a 2,500-seater with high-end jobs in data analytics, Internet of Things and other new-age technologies, Conduent, world’s largest provider of diversified business process services with leading capabilities in transaction processing, automation and analytics, will set up a 5,000-seater campus.

At present, IT and IT enabled services companies operating in Visakhapatnam provide employment to nearly 20,000 with a total turnover of ₹2,000 crore. “We expect the workforce and turnover to go up substantially once Franklin Templeton, a global asset management company and Conduent start full-fledged operations.
