Located in the heart of posh MVP Colony, Sector-8 boasts of making anyone fall for its canopy of trees, beautiful houses and peaceful surroundings.

Away from hustle and bustle of the city, it has an ambience that would make heads turn. Over 1,000 houses, mostly individual units dot the sector. The first construction in the MVP Colony, which has 13 sectors spread from the National Highway, Kailasagiri foothills, Lawson’s Bay Colony to the beach road in Sector-8 spurred growth making MVP the most popular destination for settling down for many locals and outsiders. The people here have access to all modern amenities. Rythu Bazaar, TTD online booking centre, Sivaji Park, BSNL customer care centre, Vijaya and MVP hospitals and departmental stores are located just a stone’s throw distance from the colony.

It is home for several teaching and non-teaching staff of Andhra University who opted to take developed plots from VUDA when they were available for a throwaway price in early 1980.

The colony saw massive development with the construction of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar-- a monumental structure with its impressive playground and prayer and meditation hall. “This was the first super-structure in MVP which attracted many to settle down here,” says V.V. Narasimha Naidu, an entrepreneur.

Mr. Naidu who migrated to MVP in 1998 from Devarapalle village for providing better education to his children, has said he is benefited by providing good education to both his daughters in Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar. Now both of them are studying BA (Economics) in Lady Sriram College, Delhi University. “The beauty of this sector is that anyone who once comes here will not show interest to shift to another area. I am very happy with the lifestyle here. There is peace everywhere,” he said.

MVP as everyone knows, each sector has its own importance. “Sector-8, being a centralised sector, is totally pollution free. In fact, it is a paradise on earth,” remarks P. Viswanatham of the Department of Commerce & Management Studies, Andhra University.

The prayer hall at Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar has attracted many to prefer to buy property in the sector. Prof. Viswanatham has said the area has small as well as big play schools and colleges in and around the colony. The colony had metropolitan culture. The residents are happy with the availability of municipal water and groundwater, he says.

Prof. Viswanatham, chief warden of AU hostels, has said for better traffic management, the authorities should impose restriction on movement of vehicles during school/college opening and closing hours. He has sought action against the number of fast food centres, which have sprung up near the sector creating indiscriminate garbage dumping and location of a wine shop creating nuisance during evening.

Growth

The sector’s growth as a most-preferred residential area has also its impact on Adarshnagar, where 60 square yard plots have been sanctioned to the poor. Now, a lot of real estate appreciation can be seen in Adarshnagar, part of it is located from Sector-8 to Sivajipalem and SBI Colony.
