In all, 300 students from 25 schools unleashed their creativity at the painting competition organised by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at Gayatri Vidya Parishad MLBT School on Saturday.
The competition was held as part of ‘Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight-2015’ by HPCL in collaboration with Petroleum Conservation and Research Association that concluded on the day.
The theme for the contest was ‘Save Oil, Save India’ and ‘Indhan Bachaao – Jan Dhan Badhao’.

Held in three categories, the young minds interpreted the theme in creative ways and came out with splashing colours pouring across the canvas highlighting the theme in thought-provoking ways.
Students from Deaf and Dumb School also participated in the competition. As a token of encouragement, three students of the school were awarded special prizes for their effort. The event was inaugurated by Rajdip Ghosh, Chief Regional Manager - Direct Sales, HPCL.
Addressing the students, he emphasized the need of conservation of oil and gas in view of fast depletion of the valuable resources.

“This year, the OGCF was held on such a large scale involving school students and creating a greater public awareness through a series of events,” Mr. Ghosh said.
Prof. D. Dakshina Murthy and Prof. P. Rajaganpati gave away prizes to winners of the competition.
