Spreading green message with a splash of colour

Some 140 young artists take part in painting competition. The competition saw children participating in two categories – juniors (Classes IV to VII) and seniors (Classes VIII to X).

To motivate children to adopt eco-friendly practices at an early age, Green Climate hosted a drawing and painting competition to mark the World Environment Day to be celebrated on June 5.

On Sunday, the venue drew more than 140 young artists together who let their imagination run riot with a splash of colour. Armed with colour palette, brushes along with an array of sketches, crayons and water colours, among other mediums, the participants expressed their untainted green thoughts on the drawing sheets. With ‘environmental protection’ as the theme, issues like ‘everything can be recycled’, ‘the environment is ours’, ‘save nature for better future’, ‘save water’, ‘save energy’ and ‘stop polluting’ were highlighted. Clubbing several themes, each frame aimed at bringing out a green concept alive.

The competition saw children participating in two categories – juniors (Classes IV to VII) and seniors (Classes VIII to X). As part of the event, the contestants also had a chance to share eco-friendly solutions to help reduce global warming. Among those who shared tips to protect environment against pollution, five-year-old Yathisri charmed the audience with her concept of planting more trees and its impact on environment.

Trophies given away In the end, trophies were given away to winners in each category apart from certificates and gifts to all participants. Uday Kiran, K. Chandrakanth and M. Monika P. Shuba Sree, U. Mohan Sree Navya and D. Sidhardha Rishi were the winners in juniors’ category whereas S. Jahnavi, Aindrila Nandy, K. Reshmasri and Ch. Nandini and A. Sasha and A. Yogitha bagged the top prizes in seniors’ category.
