Loans to the tune of Rs.1,100 crore will be sanctioned to SC beneficiaries under various schemes of the State during the present financial year, AP State SC Corporation Chairman Jupudi Prabhakar Rao has said.

At an awareness meet for SC beneficiaries, held at the Ambedkar Bhavan here on Wednesday, the SC Corporation Chairman said the Corporation had advanced Rs.1,100 crore to 45,000 SC beneficiaries in the State last year and an equal amount would be sanctioned to the beneficiaries this year also. He explained about the various schemes being implemented by the government for the welfare of SC/ST beneficiaries. He, however, said banks were not extending loans in time to the SC/ST beneficiaries. He said he had brought the issue to the notice of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and sought his intervention in holding a meeting with all bankers to ensure timely disbursal of loans to SC/ST beneficiaries under various schemes.

Mr. Prabhakar Rao said 60 per cent of the loan would be given as subsidy.
