New GVMC Commissioner takes over

M. Harinarayanan on Wednesday assumed charge as Commissioner of GVMC. Top priority would be accorded to solving public problems and achieving smart city objectives with team work, he said after assuming charge.

Additional Commissioner (General) G.V.V.S. Murthy welcomed him.

Representatives of the recognised VMC Staff and Workers’ Union and GVMC Contractors’ Association greeted him after he assumed charge.

An IAS officer of 2011 batch, Mr. Harinarayanan was the Project Officer of ITDA, Paderu, before his posting here. He succeeds Pravin Kumar, who has taken over as the District Collector.

Later, he called on seniormost IAS officer in the city and Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust M.T. Krishna Babu.

At a farewell organised to him by GVMC officials and staff on Tuesday evening, Mr. Pravin Kumar attributed to collective effort the success achieved by getting eighth rank in Smart City Challenge and fifth in Swacch Bharat Survekshan.

Mr. Murthy, additional commissioners N. Mohana Rao and S.S. Varma, Chief City Planner D. Venkata Ratnam, Chief Engineer in charge V. Chandraiah, Examiner of Accounts Y. Mangapathi Rao and Project Director, UCD, D. Srinivasan participated.
