Tourists visiting the places of historical interest in and around Bheemunipatnam need not rush back all the way to the city centre to stay back for the night. At long last, a luxury resort ‘Varun Beach Bheemili Resort’ is ready to welcome tourists and the holiday crowd alike.
The resort has 28 exotic rooms, all of them offering breathtaking view of the Bay Bengal. The resort features an all-day dining restaurant, a poolside ‘Water Bar’ for simple barbeque and grill, a rooftop infinity pool, children’s play area and a spa.
Speaking to the media on the eve of its inauguration on Sunday, chairman and managing director of Varun Group V. Prabhu Kishore said that Visakhapatnam was making waves as an upcoming global tourist hotspot. Bheemunipatnam with its golden sands, tourist spots and a Dutch settlement more than 200 years ago has immense tourism potential but had remained neglected for the last 20-30 years with no major investment either in the private or government sector.

The new facility would be open to the public from Tuesday. He said that a 260-room Novotel, which is under construction in Vijayawada, was expected to open in 2018.
He was optimistic that the new resort would be torch-bearer for other investors to consider Bheemunipatnam as a new destination. “We opened the Varun Health Centre at Bheemunipatnam last year and serving around 250 economically poor people from surrounding villages.
General Manager of Varun Beach Bheemili Resort Madhav Bellamkonda said that all the rooms of the new resort have a sea view. The five-acre lawn, adjacent to the hotel, has been developed to offer tourists and hotel guests to play cricket and volleyball by the beach.
