Kailasagiri junction to have facelift

Engineering wing of VUDA takes up the task

VUDA has taken up the task of widening and improving the Kailasagiri junction, near the Police Quarters, to facilitate free and safe vehicular movement to and from the most popular tourist destination in the city.

Under the instructions of Vice-Chairman B. Sreedhar, the engineering wing of VUDA has completed widening the narrow junction that witnessed accidents. With the widening, vehicles can negotiate the turn easily now.

The engineering wing spent Rs.9.3 lakhs on civil works, traffic island and widening of roads.

The works were taken up by executive engineer G. Kalpana and team under the supervision of the Superintending Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao.

Huge structure

The improved junction will have a new attraction. Under the supervision of the VUDA DFO, B.V.A. Krishna Murthy, a huge fibre and rexine structure with replicas of the Vizag Tourism -- the idol of Lord Siva and Parvati, ropeway from Kailasagiri, the Dolphin's Nose, Kursura Submarine Museum, wildlife and many other features of the region -- are depicted. The structure is created by Ramana Murthy of Sculpture Studio.

Measuring 11 feet in height and 7 feet in width, it will be completed with colour treatment and metallic bronze finish.
