The International Dance Committee in 1982 declared April 29 as International Dance Day to commemorate the birthday of legendary French dancer Jean-Georges Noverre. The celebrations aim at bringing all dance forms together on the day to cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers for peace and camaraderie. Normally dance programmes are held indoors but this year, it was proposed to make it get closer to nature by celebrating the day in open spaces, streets, squares, parks, stadiums, beaches, parking lots and other open spaces
