HyperCat launches operations in Vizag

In a big boost to efforts to improve the startup ecosystem, the U.K.-based consortium, HyperCat, has launched its operations in Visakhapatnam.

After successful operations in Hyderabad, HyperCat entered into an agreement with Silicon Coast Foundation, the registered not-for-profit organisation managing Startup Moksha at Rushikonda IT SEZ, to manage HyperCat incubator in India, with offices in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

Now, applications have been sought through websitewww.hypercat.in.

HyperCat is a not-for-profit consortium and standard driving secure interoperable Internet of Things (IoT) for industry and cities. HyperCat is an open collaboration funded by Innovate UK. IT Advisor to A.P. and Special Chief Secretary to Chief Minister J.A. Chowdary told

The Hindu that Visakhapatnam would be made a hub for financial technology, IoT, and startups based on various technologies.

SAP has already entered into a MoU with the government for incubation at Surnise Startup Village, Rushikonda. NASSCOM has been allotted space in the village for launching a startup warehouse.

High expectation

Startup Moksha CEO T. Vasudeva Rao said that access to a bigger ecosystem working towards IoT and smart cities would be a reality with HyperCat launching its operations in the City of Destiny.

HyperCat consortium has over 700 companies, which is growing at a fast pace. Most of the companies specialise in IoT and smart cities verticals.

Mr. Rao said that HyperCat would facilitate in-house mentors and mentorship from various organisations within the consortium.

Funding for the startups from the angel investors and HNIs will also become easy. HyperAngels is in the process of formation. Once it is formed, there will be a huge list of angels from all over the world.

HyperCat will also facilitate access to Flexeye Platform, where one can develop the application and dashboard at ease without any effort. An application development in Java might take 10 days, but the same could be completed in just a day.

Access to HyperSpace – an annual event in London and an opportunity to showcase the applications to the rest of the world, will help gain huge credibility for the startups.
