Girl dies, mother hurt in attack

A mother and daughter were attacked by a person at Simhadripuram in HB Colony on Saturday night.

While Rupa died of stab wounds, her mother Bhogamma was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at KGH.

The duo was allegedly attacked by one Ramana with a knife.

According to the police the mother and the daughter, both native of Ponduru mandal in Srikakulam district, moved to Visakhapatnam a couple of years back.

The accused Ramana, also a native of Ponduru mandal, took Rupa to his native place promising to marry her about six months back.

But Rupa returned about three moths ago. Ramana nursed a grudge and attacked them on Saturday. Ramana is absconding. The police have launched a manhunt.
