Ganja seized, one arrested

The Preventive Department of Customs, Visakhapatnam, seized 8 kg of dry ganja at Vizianagaram railway station on Tuesday afternoon. The Customs officials also arrested one person by name Sibram Pradhan (48), resident of Ganjam district, Odisha. Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Narendra Yadav said a tip off from the Senior Divisional Security Commander of RPF, Ibrahim Sheriff, on trafficking of ganja from Khallikote in Ganjam district to Vijayawada, has led to the arrest of the accused.

Customs Preventive team comprising Superintendents and Inspectors produced the accused before Second Metropoliatan Magistrate for Railways on Wednesday and the accused has been sent to remand till September 7.

Officials said ganja transportation from Odisha to Andhra Pradesh is happening in an organised way.
