The works of artist K. Ravi capturing the essence of Indian woman and the different human shades have been selected for a one-month residency programme of Himalayas Art Museum in Shanghai City, China.
Ravi's works, which are colourful, spontaneously warm and resourcefully intertwined with symbolic metaphors, enhance the viewing experience.
His works are a paean to the Indian woman. The artist says the month-long workshop will be a cultural exchange programme in which artists from all over the world would come and share ideas and concepts on a common platform.

“It is a good opportunity to explore and also to present my works on a larger platform,” he says. He will also be holding an exhibition of his paintings in China.
The human figure, especially the feminine form, has been an important and recurring motif in his works for years. Born in Mudigonda village in Andhra Pradesh, Ravi's early years were spent exploring the countryside and internalising its verdant greenscapes.
This sensibility is present in his works. Ravi, who has chosen the Indian woman as his theme, says, “I think the woman is a beautiful form in nature and my works have a distinguishable, Indian identity. I would it to capture the spirit of humanity.”

He is now experimenting with figurative art with texture effects on themes based on human emotions and feelings and feelings of day-to-day life and moods.
Ravi has held several solo exhibitions in different cities in India and one of his works on the theme ‘Indian woman' was also selected for the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
