Drinking water scheme for the town meant for continuous supply taken up at a cost of Rs.39 crores is nearing completion, Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao has said.
Participating in the ‘Praja Patham' programme at Wards 33 and 29 on Wednesday, he reviewed power and water supply, sanitation and services of the 108 ambulance. Mr. Prasada Rao said for repairing the roads that faced damage owing to laying of pipelines Rs.3.5 crores was sanctioned. The town would get a facelift once the new roads were completed, he said. Plans were on the cards for solid waste management and production of manure from garbage. A team led by Municipal Chairperson M.V. Padmavathi will go to Mysore to study solid waste management.
Ms. Padmavathi and municipal commissioner Govinda Swamy participated.

Dental camp
District Collector N.Srikant on Wednesday inaugurated a free dental camp organised by Indian Red Cross Srikakulam branch. The camp was organised by Magatapalli Venkataramana Murthy in memory of his son Sowjanya Kumar.
The free clinic will function every Sunday for three hours from 9 a.m.

Mr.Murthy will foot the expenditure and dentists B Sanjiva Rao, P. Krishna Raju and P. Nageswara Rao have come forward to render free service to those having a white ration card. District Red Cross Chairman P. Jaganmohana Rao, Dusi Dharma Rao and Nikku Appanna participated.
