A couple of years ago, his first Telugu film Andala Rakshasi made a mark at the box office. This year, hero Rahul Ravindran is back with Ala Ela , teaming up with Vennela Kishore, Shani and Hebah Patel.

Unlike his first Telugu flick which was an out and out love story, Ala Ela had a different package for Rahul. During his success tour of the recently released movie, the actor talks to The Hindu about his keen interest to do different roles, his newly married life and upcoming films. His guy next door image has stolen many a heart in Kollywood as well as Tollywood. “I am fortunate to be accepted in both Telugu and Tamil films,” says the actor.

Andala Rakshasi is special to Rahul in many ways. “That’s when I met Chinmayi Sripada, playback singer, with whom I fell in love and got married six months back. She was dubbing for the lady-lead in the film,” he says. Sharing Chinmayi’s most adorable qualities, the actor says, “She is a very giving person and respects people for what they are.” And the real hero seems to be clearly smitten by her positive energy off-screen.

Talking about competition, the hero says, “Although there is stiff competition, you can make your presence felt with your work. Despite the fact that there are so many of us vying with each other in the industry, you can still gain an edge through quality work.”

Of all his Tamil movies, Rahul says Vinmeengal was little challenging. “I played the role of a person affected by cerebral palsy. So throughout the film I was wheelchair-bound.” After completing five films in Tamil and four in Telugu, including a few guest appearances, Rahul says that his ambition is to do something beyond run-of-the-mill sorts and grow a little bit.
