The swing was decked up with marigolds, ‘tulsi’ leaves, peacock feathers and assorted flowers as the devout made their way to take part in ‘jhulan seva’ of ‘Laddu Gopal’ at Vishwa Priya Function Hall here on Sunday.
Organised jointly by Hare Krishna Movement and Akshaya Patra Foundation, the venue drew scores of devotees who poured in for darshan all through the day. Carnatic music, cultural programmes, ‘abhishekam’ with 108 ‘kalasms’ and a selection of fruit pulps and juices formed part of the two-day event that concludes on Monday.
A separate place with 108 steps was set for the devotees where they can step into each one chanting ‘Hare Krishna’. Those who were done with the ‘darshan’ treated themselves to a sumptuous spread of ‘prasadam’ served from morning to night.

A series of interesting dance performances and comedy skits, recitation of Bhagavad Gita and fancy dress competition formed part of the combined celebrations of Vinoda Vallari, monthly cultural programme of VUDA and Creative Comedy Club, at Gurajada Kalakshetram.
In line with the festivities, Samskara Bharathi celebrated Krishnashtami at Brundavan Park in T.P.T. Colony. Tiny tots exhibited their creative skills by taking part in fancy dress competition. They also presented skits and dance performances. Interestingly, most elders joined the butter pot breaking event in the evening.

Competitions like breaking of butter pot, group dance, solo dance and fancy dress charmed those who assembled at ISKCON, Sagarnagar, in scores. ‘Maha kalasabhishekam’, ‘deeparthi’ with 108 lamps, ‘bhajans’ and distribution of prasadam formed part of the day-long programme.
Sri Satya Sai Seva organisation celebrated the festival with ‘jhula utsav’, ‘utti utsav’, ‘sudarshana homam’ and ‘bhajans’.
