Poking fun at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, CITU on Wednesday released book in Telugu named ‘Make in India Loot in India.’

Releasing the book at a press conference here, CITU State Secretariat member Ch. Narsinga Rao said the BJP-led NDA Government was indulging in hype instead of controlling rising prices and improving the working conditions for the poorer sections.

He said the Make in India campaign had failed to increase exports and achieving self-sufficiency in various fields. Instead it had led to more dependence on imports.

Mr. Rao said as high as 10 million tonne steel and eight million tonne fertilizer were imported last year dealing a deadly blow to domestic manufacturers. He said the NDA Government was weakening profit making public sectors due to its importance to disinvestment.

The NDA Government was going to implement the UPA’s decision to offload 10 per cent share amounting to Rs.489 crore. In Visakhapatnam Port Trust, 80 per cent of berths had been handed over to private operators.
