For the first time in the country, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has partnered with the State Government to set up separate tourism bureaus for Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati.
This figured prominently at the strategy session of CII to finalise its roadmap for 2016-17. Besides tourism promotion, CII wanted to play a facilitator’s role to woo investments in industries, IT and promote MSME and skill development in a big way in AP post-bifurcation.

CII committee on tourism convener Neeraj Sarda said the first bureau would be set up for promoting tourism in Visakhapatnam in September.
He said a comprehensive website would be created by involving all the stakeholders in the bureau to woo investors and facilitate development of a complete ecosystem.
Mr. Sarda said building brand image for Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati was their top priority. A CII team comprising Mr. Shiv Kumar and Mr. Sarda recently visited Puducherry to find out the reasons for their success story.

Awareness
The meeting decided to create awareness on Internet of Things, facilitate setting up of a driving training school on five acres allotted by Vizag Profiles Group at Kottavalasa as part of skill development and hold a tourism conclave in the city in three to four months.
Stating that there was no space for allotment to IT entrepreneurs unlike Telangana, he said the policy finalised by the State on Designated Technology Parks would take off shortly once rules were framed. The CII would also host a buyer-seller meet to promote business for MSME sector.
CII Vizag zone chairman Muralikrishna, vice-chairman D.T. Raju, conveners of health care committee Dr. Vegesna Varma, port and logistics committee convener Sushil Mulchandani and CII former zonal chairman R.V.S. Raju were present.
