A BJP delegation has urged Chief Minister K.Rosaiah to expedite the completion of the 1,130-bed Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) by allocating the required funds.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister during his visit to the city on Sunday, BJP city president M. Nagendra said not even a rupee was allocated to VIMS in the budget for 2010-11.
Of the Rs.50 crore allocated in 2005 when the foundation was laid when Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was Chief Minister, only Rs.34.5 crore was released. While Telangana and Rayalaseema had super speciality hospitals, the region was deprived of such a facility because of the non-completion of VIMS.

Water supply
Drawing the attention of the Chief Minister to the alternate day water supply in the city, the BJP wanted the government to take up long and short-term measures to prevent any shift of potential industrial units from the city for lack of water.
It also wanted piped LPG supply to be made to the city from gas available in East Godavari as it was proposed to supply in distant places like Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Kakinada.
