All-party meet for permanent jobs to the NAOB-hit

District Collector J. Syamala Rao on Wednesday resolved to ask the Ministry of Defence through the State Government to provide permanent jobs to eligible persons affected by the Naval Alternate Operational Base (NAOB) being set up near Atchutapuram.

This was decided after Mr. Rao held a meeting with representatives from all parties and project affected people (PAP) at Circuit House.

TDP floor leader in the Legislative Council Dadi Virabhadra Rao, Congress MLA U.V. Ramana Murthy Raju, CPI (M) district secretary Ch. Narsinga Rao, CPI district secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy and Praja Rajyam Party leader Nageswara Rao attended.

After the meeting, representatives from agitating people of project affected area decided to consult all and decide their future course of action in next three days.

The District Collector said he would send the recommendations to Chief Minister K. Rosaiah.

He also accepted the request for constructing north and south break water jetties for fishermen and said a technical committee would be set up for a viability study in consultation with the fishermen.

The political parties wanted the implementation of GO Ms. No 68 (rehabilitation and resettlement policy 2005). Mr. Narsinga Rao said the authorities would send a proposal to enhance compensation from Rs.50,000 to Rs.1 lakh for each PAP, treat 18 year old as on today as eligible person for compensation after conducting a fresh survey.
