A collection of paintings and sculptures of 42 artists are displayed at the Art@Amaravathi exhibition at Visakha Museum. The art show is being organised by Amaravathi Visual Art Society, Vijayawada, in association with Department of Language and Culture, Government of AP. Inaugurating the exhibition on Saturday, GVMC Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan said the exhibition provided a great scope for local artists to display their works along with artists across the country and foster a culture of art among the people of Visakhapatnam.
“The main purpose of forming a society was to give a platform to the artists of the region and other cities to get together and involve themselves in an artistic exchange of ideas. Going ahead, we plan to organise three-day art camps in AP to encourage more artistic collaborations,” said P. Srinivas Rao, secretary of Amaravathi Visual Art Society. One of his works on teakwood titled ‘Pilgrims’ is also a part of the show.
Artists from cities like Hyderabad, Puducherry, Chennai and Baroda, apart from Vizag based artists, have presented their works in a variety of themes at the exhibition. Artist L.N.V. Srinivas has depicted the subtle shades of landscape through abstract imageries in his works. Playing with a kaleidoscope of colours, artist Sreedhar Poluru has presented a figurative depicture of the feminine face by bringing multiple elements in his canvas.

Vizag based artist Kattakuri Ravi’s unmistakable style depicting the woman with pouted lips also is a part of the show.
The exhibition will be open from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the Visakha Museum till January 9.
