In a major breakthrough, the city police recovered around 30 tolas of stolen gold ornaments, estimated to cost Rs.8 lakh, and took into custody three juveniles for their alleged involvement in the crime.
Giving details of the case to the media here on Friday, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (crimes) Md. Khan said that some miscreants gained entry into the DBK Railway Quarters, located near LIC Building, on April 25 night even as the inmates were fast asleep.
They stole a travel bag, containing the gold ornaments, which was kept on top of the iron almirah.

They also stole a cell phone and decamped with the booty.
The inmates found the bag missing and lodged a complaint with the Two Town Police the next morning.
Two Town Inpector R. Mallikarjuna Rao, SI (crime) M. Maheswara Rao, and their team realised that a person, who was well acquainted with the house, could have done it. They caught the juveniles, who were Intermediate students, at Turner’s Choultry on Friday and recovered the entire stolen gold ornaments.
