APEPDCL Chairman and Managing Director S. Nagalakshmi on Thursday said that ₹177 crore had been allocated to strengthen the agriculture grid to ensure nine-hour interrupted power supply free of cost to the farm sector during daytime.
Unfurling the tricolour at the Discom corporate office here, Ms. Nagalakshmi said the nine-hour power supply would benefit 2.28 lakhs farmers.

“Visakhapatnam was the first city in Andhra Pradesh to get underground cabling for which works are in progress in 23 sub-station jurisdiction, with the financial assistance from the World Bank. A fund of ₹720 crore is being allocated for giving uninterrupted power to consumers,” she said.
Ms. Nagalakshmi further said that for supply of three phase electricity to Agency areas that was hit by left-wing extremism in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and East Godavari districts, a ₹31.3-crore project is being implemented. “New tribal villages will be synchronised with the grid at a cost of ₹34.75 crore,” she added.
