Participants at a seminar for students on Gandhiji, organised by GITAM Centre for Gandhian Studies at GTIM Institute of Management came to the conclusion that the Father of the Nation is still relevant and a guiding force for youngsters.
The seminar was organised on Monday on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti with the focus on using Gandhian principles to solve contemporary issues in the society.
A team of engineering students informed that it had developed a Swadeshi technology to help farmers in Srikakulam districts, inspired by Gandhiji. The team of students visited the district designed a water lifting equipment to provide water to 100 acres of agriculture land. The District Administration appreciated the method.

Another group of engineering students helped Girijans of Visakha Agency with drinking water facility.
Toy-making
The management students explained how they trained some persons in remote villages in Narsipatnam area. At Anuku village they trained locals in toy-making and conducted literary programmes and distributed solar lamps. The students presented a paper on Gandhi and rural employment during the seminar.

Campaign
Members of GITAM Rotaract Club conducted women literacy campaign at Yendada and child education programmes in Visakhapatnam city. The School of Law students also presented papers at the seminars.
Director of Center for Gandhian Studies B. Sambasiva Prasad spoke on Gandhian philosophy and appreciated the students for their concern towards poor and village people.
