YSR Congress Party leaders are resorting to ‘political terrorism’, alleged former Minister and Telugu Desam Party Polit Bureau member Kalava Srinivasulu.

At a press conference here on Saturday along with party district president B.K. Parthasarathy, Mr. Srinivasulu alleged that false cases were foisted against people complaining about the illegal activities of the YSRCP MLAs and other influential leaders. The attacks on TDP workers and the general public had increased manifold in Rayadurg Assembly constituency represented by Government Whip Kapu Ramachandra Reddy, the TDP leaders said.

Giving examples of illegal activities, Mr. Srinivasulu alleged that the present government had created an artificial scarcity of sand by stopping excavation for two months and later sold sand to its party functionaries through the online system so that they could hoard it. He alleged that Mr. Ramachandra Reddy was himself actively involved in smuggling sand to Karnataka.

“When six tippers were intercepted by the police, the MLA himself sat on a dharna in the police station and ensured that cases were registered against the whistleblowers,” Mr. Srinivasulu said, adding recently nine tippers were intercepted on Hagari bank at Bommanahal, which were meant for Sundipenta in Kurnool district, but they were let off with political pressure and that consignment landed in Bengaluru.

Making allegations against the police force, the former Minister said that the personnel were sympathetic to those in power and did not bother to act against their illegal activities. While the National Green Tribunal had stopped blasting in many quarries in Nemagalluy in Bommanahal mandal, the locals brought to the notice of the RDO, Tahsildar and the circle inspector about blasts conducted in a quarry for which the Rayadurg MLA held licence, he said.

Despite complaints no action was initiated, the TDP leaders said. Five persons had lodged a complaint and local dailies had written about it in addition to handing over the explosives to the police, but they did not act holding the Department of Mines responsible, to wash their hands off, he alleged.
