Mother of accused was hit by cricket ball

Kiran, 20, a student was allegedly stabbed to death by Srikanth Chowdary, when a cricket ball reportedly hit the latter’s mother in the P&T Colony in the city on Tuesday.

According to the police, the ball hit Chowdary’s mother at her residence in the colony. The accused had an argument with the players over the issue and when Kiran tried to pacify them, Chowdary allegdly stabbed him with a knife.

Kiran was rushed to the Government General Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment. The Krishnalanka police registered a case and took the accused into custody.

Kiran was the only son of his parents and was planning to go abroad, the locals said.
