South Central Railway General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav on Wednesday inspected the Guntur-Nandyal railway section and asked the officials to expedite doubling and electrification works.
Mr. Yadav, accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur, BG Bhooma, later visited the Guntur railway station.
Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao met the General Manager and submitted a memorandum.

The MP urged Mr. Yadav to develop an open area in front of Vinukonda station as a park with the cooperation of the local municipality.
He urged the railways to introduce two more pairs of fast passengers between Macherla-Guntur and Vijayawada. Mr. Rao also urged for upgradation of four level crossings.

Guntur Railway Division secured the distinction of converting all the railway stations, level crossing gates and service buildings to 100% LED lighting, according to a press release.
All the 76 railway stations, 184 manned railway level crossings and 99 service buildings in the division have been provided with 100% LED bulbs.
It is anticipated that the energy savings would be around 5.8 lakh units per annum, amounting to ₹52.5 lakh a year.
