‘Women should be aware of laws'

Speakers at the International Women's Day celebrations opined that women should develop in all aspects to face the challenges in the society.

The Women Cell of Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala organised a programme in connection with the International Women's Day celebrations in the city on Wednesday.

Addressing the meeting, advocate and Lok Satta vice-president Gnanamba said that women should be aware of the legal rights, acts, sections, laws and legal aid being provided by the Government for them. She stressed the need for change in lifestyle of women and called upon the womenfolk to fight for freedom.

Gynaecologist Lakshmi Prasanna explained the health problems being faced by women and the remedies through power point presentation. She announced a health package for Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala staff.

College Principal Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi, Women Cell convenor S. Kalpana and other staff and students participated.

Talk on cancer

The women employees of Postal Department will celebrate Women's Day at Southern Spice Restaurant near Fortune Murali Park on Thursday. V. Padmaja of Padmaja Fertility Centre will deliver talk on cancer, while Narayana Educational Institutions Guntur region academic director Padmakala will talk on ‘how to control stress.'
