Manipal Hospitals organises novel celebrations

The Vijayawada unit of Manipal Group of Hospitals, in a novel celebration of Children’s Day with the “Be a doctor for one day” programme, dressed schoolchildren as doctors and gave them a tour of the hospital.

Duties explained

More than 250 students from different schools of Vijayawada, Tadepalli, Kunchanapalli and Mangalagiri participated in the “Be a doctor for a day” programme as part of which the children were given white coats and stethoscopes and explained the importance of health and the way hospitals function. The children were also explained the duties of healthcare providers like doctors, nurses and other paramedics.

Paediatrician P. Ravi Kumar said: “An educational experience of this sort is invaluable. The idea is to motivate the children to take care of their health also talk to their parents and relatives about the importance of health to the individual and society also.” Vijayawada unit head Kantipudi Sudhakar said that Manipal Hospitals believed in promoting health awareness among children. The children were even motivated to take up roles in the healthcare sector.

Family doctor cards were given to students and to the teachers who accompanied them.
