Krishna University (KRU) Vice-Chancellor Vunnam Venkaiah said that Voter Clubs will be formed in all colleges in Krishna district. Steps would be taken to create awareness among the young voters on the importance of ‘right to vote’, said the VC.
The district administration has celebrated the 3 National Voters Day celebrations on a grand-scale in Krishna district on Friday. Registration of new voters was done at all polling booths in the district.
MLA Malladi Vishnu, Collector Budhaprakash M. Jyothi, Vijayawada Sub-Collector S. Venkat Rao, Trainee Collector Lathkar Sreekesh, District Revenue Officer L. Vijay Chander and others participated in the celebrations.

Essay writing, elocution, drawing and rangoli competitions were organised for students on the occasion. The Returning Officers and the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers distributed voter ID Cards to the new voters, and read the message of Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath.
Participating in a programme at Hindu Kalasala auditorium here, Mr. Venkaiah said according to the figures about 2.32 lakh new voters were enrolled this year of which 47 per cent were women.
Mr. Budhaprakash appealed to the youth to exercise their franchise and protect the democracy. He asked the VC to form Voter Clubs in all colleges under KRU limits.

Sub-Collector S. Venkat Rao flagged off the rally organised by NSS students at Penamaluru constituency. He felicitated the senior voters and distributed voter ID Cards to the students who enrolled recently.
Machilipatnam Revenue Divisional Officer and Municipal Commissioner N. Sivaraka Krishna and other officials distributed prizes to the winners in essay writing and other competitions.
The ‘burrakathas’ played by M. Shekar Babu and team, highlighting the need for voter enrolment and on explaining about ‘right to vote’, attracted the visitors.
