VMC to develop roads as per master plan

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is taking steps to improve major roads and junctions as per the master plan to ease traffic congestions, said VMC Commissioner G.S. Panda Das.

Speaking at a review meeting here on Thursday, the commissioner directed the engineers to submit proposals for widening of roads and junctions with estimated values for taking up the works. As per G.O. No.674/2006, 134 roads and junctions are being developed in the city and the works are under progress, he said. According to the master plan, survey would be taken up to widen Pantakaluva-Aayush Hospital road, Andhra Patrika-Alankar, Besant road, Gopala Reddy road, Ramalingeswar Nagar Katta, Carmel road, Vinchipeta and Foreman Banglow roads. City Planner S. Chakrapani arranged a power point presentation on development of various and junctions in the city. Traffic junctions at Gurunanak road, Chittinagar, Mahanadu road, Nice bar, Errakatta and other junctions would be developed, said Mr. Das. VMC Chief Engineer G. Kondala Rao, Superintending Engineers Mojes Kumar, V. Venkateswara Rao, Assistant City Planner V. Suneetha and other officers attended the meeting.
