Visual delight for devotees

Priests offering flowers to the deity of Sri Padmavathi Devi during the Pushpayaga mahotsavam at Tiruchanur on Friday.

The annual ‘Pushpayaga mahotsavam’ was observed with religious fervour at the temple of goddess Padmavathi Devi in Tiruchanur, here on Friday evening. As a part of the ritual, the processional deity was made to sit on a special platform and tonnes of varieties of flowers were showered amidst the chanting of vedic hymns by the temple priests. Speaking on this occasion, TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal said that this fete is usually observed as a festival seeking pardon for the mistakes committed by the archakas, temple staff, pilgrims either knowingly or unknowingly during annual brahmotsavams. Earlier, 100 garden staff, 100 Srivari Sevakulu carried the flowers in baskets in a colourful procession to the temple from Asthana Mandapam. This celestial event took place between 5 pm and 7 pm in Sri Krishna Mukha Mandapam. Tirupati JEO Pola Bhaskar, Former EOs L.V. Subramanyam, M.G. Gopal, CVSO A. Ravikrishna, and Special Grade Deputy EO Munirathnam Reddy were present.
