Vijayamma slams Naidu over dilution of welfare schemes

April 14, 2014 12:41 am | Updated May 21, 2016 11:05 am IST - PRATHIPADU (GUNTUR DT):

Continuing the tirade against Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, honorary president of YSR Congress Y.S Vijayalakshmi on Sunday asked Mr. Naidu to explain why he has diluted the welfare schemes initiated by N.T Rama Rao.

Addressing a road show here, she said that Mr. Naidu owed an explanation as to why he had diluted several welfare schemes started by NTR, like Rs.2-a-kg rice scheme, prohibition on liquor and Rs.50 per HP power subsidy to farmers.

“Mr. Naidu who did nothing for the welfare of farmers during his nine-year old rule, now talks of farm loan waiver besides offering several freebies. Does Mr. Naidu know how much it costs to implement his schemes?’’ Ms. Vijayamma questioned.

Urging people to give a decisive mandate for the YSRC, she said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy would implement all welfare measures started by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Stating that Mr Jagan has the insurmountable will power which he had inherited from his father, she said that he was already preparing a blue print for reconstructing the residuary Andhra Pradesh.

Party candidates, V. Balashowry (Guntur Lok Sabha), Ayodhya Rami Reddy (Narsaraopet Lok Sabha) and Mekathoti Sucharita (Prathipadu) also took part.
