The student JAC organised ‘vidyarthi garjana’ on Bandar Road here on Wednesday in protest against the CWC decision to bifurcate the State. The students in large numbers from various colleges gathered on the road to register their protest, and raised slogans against the bifurcation.
Addressing the gathering, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal asserted that they would not allow the division of State at any cost. Refuting the allegations of Telangana leaders that the Samaikyandhra agitation was sponsored by some industrialists, he asserted that it was public agitation.
It was a sheer voluntary participation and the agitation was apolitical. There were no incidents of violence though the agitation was taking place for last 29 days, he said.

Former MLC Chigurupati Varaprasad hailed the students’ commitment for the united state and also neglecting their studies. Samaikyandhra Student JAC convener, Devineni Avinash said that Mahatma Gandhi was their role model and they were following his non-violence path.
Secondary Education Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy participated in a few protests against division of the State. The Minister was more fortunate than Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal who was asked to go away by RTC employees. The Minister, who was invited to play “kolatam” by some students, obliged and danced with the children. When a few women asked the Minister to see that the State was not bifurcated the Minister found fault with all the political parties for bringing pressure on the Centre to divide the State and now “harassing” Ms. Sonia Gandhi. He said the men of different parties were harassing Ms. Gandhi who was a woman.

VMC Employees JAC organised ‘vanta varpu’ on the road as part of their agitation against the division. JAC convener Eswar felt that the region would turn into a desert if the State was divided. The JAC wanted the Congress party to roll back its decision to bifurcate the State. The unilateral decision of AICC president Sonia Gandhi would badly hamper the progress in coastal districts. The Congress party has not taken the sentiments of Telugus into consideration.
The elected representatives should tender their resignations and join the agitation, he said.
Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam employees continued their hunger strike on the fourth day on Wednesday. Temple employees JAC K. Balarama Temple, All Cadre Employees Union president DVN Raju and others were present.
Rally
The doctors and staff of Aayush NRI LEPL Hospital took out a rally to protest against the division of the State. About 200 persons participated in the rally led by Dr.K.Gopalakrishna in response to call given by the IMA Association. The doctors in a detailed statement listed 14 points against division of the State.
