Vamsi lodges complaint against Anjaneyulu

January 22, 2014 12:04 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 06:00 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

TDP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi has lodged a complaint with City Police Commissioner B. Srinivasulu that he was facing a life threat from IG Greyhounds P.S.R. Anjaneyulu.

Mr. Vamsi mailed his complaint to the Commissioner following a suggestion from Director-General of Police (DGP) B. Prasada Rao, on Tuesday. Alleging that a conspiracy was being hatched to kill him, the TDP leader sought police protection. The DGP, however, asked him to lodge a complaint with the Vijayawada Police Commissioner.

In his complaint, Mr. Vamsi said that he came to know that Mr. Anjaneyulu organised a meeting on January 13 wherein the latter conspired and planned to physically liquidate him in connivance with some police officers and anti-social elements.

Mr. Anjaneyulu, as Vijayawada Police Commissioner, had summoned him several times and warned him against visiting and staying in Vijayawada, he alleged. The IG had also allegedly threatened and warned him against travelling in a convoy of more than two vehicles without obtaining written orders, he wrote. He added “the instructions were given only with an intention to see that I have to travel alone and get eliminated by my political opponents.”

Mr. Vamsi sent copies of his complaint to Chief Minister, Principal Secretary (Home) and the DGP.

There was fallout between Mr. Vamsi and Mr. Anjaneyulu which could have triggered the hatred. In 2011, both were at loggerheads and levelled allegations against each other in front of the media. Mr. Vamsi exposed the lewd messages sent by the police officer to a lady doctor.
