‘Use solar energy to overcome power shortage’

Officials of Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (NEDCAP) advised the residents and establishment owners to use solar energy to solve power problem.

Speaking at a programme organised in connection with the ongoing Energy Conservation Week celebrations here on Friday, NEDCAP District Manager Srinivas Rao explained the shops and other establishment owners on the subsidies being extended by the NEDCAP to the consumers, to encourage solar systems.

The NEDCAP was providing 30 per cent subsidy for setting solar energy systems. Power can be saved up to 50 per cent, if solar lighting, heaters and other equipment is used, he said.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Chief Engineer G. Kondal Rao appealed to the residents and owners of commercial complexes to minimise the use of fans, air-conditioners, and other appliances to save power.
