An eerie silence prevailed on Sunday at TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu’s camp site here, which hitherto witnessed hustle bustle with party workers and leaders thronging in good numbers.
Baring the media persons and security personnel the camp site was free literally free from Telugu Desam workers. Except for leaders like Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao others were not seen during the day following party president’s instructions that none should pay visit. The security personnel also stepped up the vigil and the police insisted the media persons to show their identity cards to enter the premises.
The media persons lined up their camera on tripods expecting that Mr. Naidu would make an announcement on the padayatra. Nara Lokesh, who thronged place close to afternoon, politely declined to say anything on health condition of his father. “The doctors will examine him shortly. They will brief you,” he said and vanished into the bus.

Most of the press persons left the place after doctors and Mr. Umamaheswara Rao addressed the media. But, the camp area suddenly gained vigour and activity as Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was scheduled to make an announcement on Telangana at 5 p.m. at Delhi. The OB vans of various channels rushed here anticipating that Mr. Naidu would react to the statement.
A good number of women from nearby villages also descended on the camp to have glimpse of the TDP leader. Mr. Naidu, however, did not step out though the sun, and dark clouds enveloped the environs. The press persons rushed back to their offices only when Mr. Naidu’s security officers announced he would not address the media.
