The TV viewers felt the impact of the bandh for Samaikhyandhra on Sunday in view of suspension of all the entertainment programmes telecast by different channels by the cable operations all over the district in support of the agitation.
Barring the 24X7 news channels, all the other channels beaming entertainment programmes went off.
The owners of two-wheelers and four-wheelers found it difficult in refuelling their vehicles due to the closure of the filling stations as part of the bandh. The district reeled under the impact of the bandh for the fifth day on Sunday. The protests, accompanied by rallies, burning of effigies of the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, continued throughout the district.

The JAC for Samaikhyandhra, which met in Bhimavaram on Sunday, decided to target the MPs and the MLAs from the ruling Congress, demanding their resignations in support of the integrity of the State. “We have decided not to allow any MP or MLA to take part in the movement unless they relinquish their positions,” said JAC chairman Mantena Venkatasuryanarayana Raju. The JAC resolved to continue its bandh call on Monday also. The resignations en masse by MPs was essential for the UPA government to plunge into a crisis and for the State bifurcation issue to be put off eventually, he said.
Mr. Raju said that the JAC would meet in Bhimavaram on Tuesday for constitution of a district-level coordination committee to ensure a joint action for the cause by bringing together all the like-minded forces under a single umbrella.
