With the commissioning of the above new substations, the entire load of Nuzvid revenue division will be transferred to the Kondapalli SS, leaving no scope for power-cut in the upland areas.

Advantage Kaikalur constituency

The upgrading of infrastructure at Kondapalli and the other substations connected to it will be beneficial to Kaikalur Assembly constituency as a whole, according to APTransco Superintending Engineer B. Ramaiah.

Cost factor

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Ramaiah said the capacity of the transformer at 132 KV substation at Auto Nagar in Vijayawada was being increased from 31.5 MVA to 50 MVA. Similar capacity augmentation is on the anvil at Gangur substation.

The cost of the transformers is about Rs.10 crore and the other works entail an expenditure of nearly Rs.50 lakh.

Besides, Mr. Ramaiah said, worn out conductors were being replaced wherever required to curb line losses keeping in view the 24 x 7 power supply initiative that helped the government in attracting investments.

A slew of other schemes are planned under the Integrated Power Development Scheme with focus on curbing leakage of power from various intra and inter-State transmission lines.

A plan of action is being worked out with the AP Southern Power Distribution Company Limited for rolling out the projects.

Aim is to leave
