Students of Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala got some useful tips on how to prepare for exams from Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge B. Chandra Kumar.
Delivering a guest lecture on “Role of Youth in Building of the Nation”, organised by the Political Science Department of the college here recently, Mr. Kumar said that youth had a pivotal role to play in deciding the future of the nation. He said they were the future heroes who had to take upon their shoulders the pride of the nation. Citing social evils like dowry system, he said it was for the youth of today to eradicate such problems from the face of the earth.
College Principal T. Vijayalakshmi said a sense or responsibility must be inculcated among the youth early in life. Gandhiji Mahila Kalasala on Park Road in the city celebrated its 21 anniversary recently. “The Mahila Kalasala”, according to its secretary and correspondent C.L. Kanta Rao, is a long-cherished dream of the people of this region.

Set up by BRGKSV Educational Society in the first floor of Gandhiji Municipal High School Building under the guidance of the then Vijayawada Mayor Jandhyala Sankar and municipal commissioner M.G.V.K. Bhanu, a junior college in 1991 with 400 students had grown from strength to strength over the years, said Mr. Rao.
Ph.D. awarded
Suryakanti K.S. has been awarded a Ph.D by Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) for her thesis on “A Study of Values of Prospective Secondary School Teachers in Relation to Teacher Attitude and Teaching Aptitude”.

Ms. Suryakanti carried out her thesis under the guidance of G. Bhuvaneswara Lakshmi. As part of her study, Ms. Suryakanti culled out a sample of 650 prospective secondary school teachers from 10 colleges of education affiliated to the ANU.
