Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of Republic Day (RD) celebrations being conducted for the first time in Andhra Pradesh at the new-look Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here on Monday.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Ministers, Parliament Members, MLAs, elected representatives and host of bureaucrats are expected to attend the celebrations.
Director General of Police J.V. Ramudu, Additional-Director General of Police Gowtam Sawang, In-charge City Police Commissioner N.V. Surendra Babu and District Collector A. Babu reviewed the security arrangements.

Following the arrest of ISIS activists at various places in the country recently and U.S. President Barrack Obama’s visit to India, the Intelligence Bureau is leaving no stone unturned for the successful conduct of the event.
With some political parties and its affiliated wings opposing Mr. Obama’s visit, both the State and Central Intelligence wings have tightened security. Police have intensified combing operations on all the main thoroughfares in view of the bandh call given by CPI-ML Maoists in protest against Obama’s tour. Army, CRPF, APSP, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides and Indian Red Cross Society contingents from all districts will participate in the parade.
