Three boys of a family were electrocuted when they came into contact with live electric wires while trying to retrieve a kite enmeshed in the electric cables using an iron rod at Chenchu Colony in the town on Friday. Another boy, Avala Yesudas, survived.
The victims were identified as Nallabothu Yesuraju (12) and his brother N. John Raju (9), sons of N. Venkateswara Rao, and their cousin Bogina Suresh (12), son of B. Veeraiah. The accident occurred when the three children attempted to retrieve a kite entangled in the power cables with an iron rod from the terrace of a house under-construction. The boys were school dropouts. Another boy Yesudas, who managed to jump from the building, sustained minor injuries.
Pamarru Circle Inspector K. Dharmendra, who visited the spot, said the house owner constructed the house by encroaching the pavement and the 11 KV cables were dangling low which led to the mishap. APTransco lineman M. Shivarama Krishna said the 11 KV cables were supplying power to a transformer.

“Suresh was the only son of Veeraiah and Tirupatamma. We saw the three children flying kites till about 1.30 p.m. Veeraiah and Venkateswara Rao are fishermen,” according to a local A. Kotaiah.
The Pamarru police registered a case and were investigating.
