Telangana: TDP puts onus on Centre

‘Bifurcation cannot be taken up against the dominant wish of people'

TDP senior leaders Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao blamed the Centre for the present crisis over separate Telangana and asserted that the destiny of Andhra Pradesh could never be in the hands of either TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao or AICC secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The TDP leaders warned of a massive backlash from the people of the Seemandhra region if the Congress high command continued to play with their sentiments and there would be Samaikyandhra agitation once again.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Chandramohan Reddy said KCR had no business to decide the boundaries of a future state, which would never come, and all this wishful thinking was merely aimed at continuing his and his family's sway over the innocent people.

He described the Telangana agitation as a mere tool for the KCR's self-promoted “family benefit scheme,” going by the alleged extortion of money at Rs. 10 lakh from big companies belonging to Seemandhra industrialists and businessmen over there.

Mr. Reddy said KCR seemed to set his eyes on the lucrative Obulapuram iron ore mines going by the way he was claiming Anantapur and Kurnool to be brought under his “imaginary future state” of Telangana and the people of Rayalaseema would teach a fitting lesson to him.

He said there was no difference between the political parties of KCR and Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, as both were floated only to amass wealth by dubious means and put the common people to misery and hardship. Mr. Reddy said Mr. Azad had no moral authority as a political party secretary to deal with the Telangana issue and it was up to the UPA Government to clean the mess for which its policies over the years were responsible.

Mr. Umamaheswara Rao asserted that all people in the Seemandhra region and the majority of people from all sections of society in Telangana were still opting for a unified Andhra Pradesh and the bifurcation of the State can never be taken up against the dominant wish of the people.
