The police on Friday arrested a teenager on the charge of killing a fellow worker Lanke Durga (22) for rejecting his love in Tarapet in the city on May 8.

Durga, a worker in New Andhra Leather Company, was murdered at around 11.30 a.m. The body was found lying in a pool of blood at her owner's house. Following a complaint, One Town Circle Inspector K. Hanumantha Rao registered a case and took up investigation.

The 16-year-old accused, a native of a town in Tamil Nadu, joined the leather company one year ago. He proposed to Durga and was pestering her to reciprocate. However, Durga refused to oblige and started avoiding him.

Conspiracy

As Durga agreed to marry another worker Hari, the accused bore grudge against her and hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her. He followed Durga when she went to her owner's house on May 8 and sneaked into the premises. He then tried in vain to put pressure on her to marry him. The duo had some altercation over the issue.

In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly pushed Durga following which she fell down. The accused then hit Durga with a boulder, killing her on the spot. Later, he escaped from the scene of crime.
