The Telugu Desam Party took out a rally in One Town area on Tuesday asking the government to construct a flyover near Kanakadurga temple here.

The TDP activists, led by Mylavaram MLA and district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, marched towards Potti Sriramulu statue from TDP Vijayawada (West) constituency in-charge Buddha Venkanna's residence near Gosala. Later, they took out a rally from Bhavanipuram to Kummaripalem, the stretch of road where frequent traffic jams take place. The rally culminated into a one-day hunger strike.

Addressing the gathering in the evening, TDP polit bureau member K. Yerran Naidu said: “There is no need for hunger strike for small cause like this.

The government's apathy compelled us to sit on hunger strike.”

Referring to Kadapa MP and YSR Congress president Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy's remarks on Krishna tribunal, the TDP sought to know what Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy did as an MP. As an MP, he never raised the issue in Parliament. The Congress government, led by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was responsible for injustice meted out to the State by Brajesh Kumar Tribunal. Now, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was making a hue and cry over it, he alleged.

TDP urban president Vamsi, Mr. Venkanna and others were present.
