TD leaders gear up to make Vizag meet a success

10,000 to 15,000 people likely to attend from district

Telugu Desam Party Krishna district unit is gearing up to make Vastunna Meekosam valedictory function a grand success in Visakhapatnam. The party sources say top leaders have set a target of mobilising one lakh people from the district for the event slated to be held in Visakhapatnam on April 27.

Each Assembly constituency MLA/in-charge was asked to mobilise not less than 5,000 people, but the senior leaders were not sure of mobilising 50,000 people was also a Herculean Task if transportation etc. were to be considered. With a great difficulty 1,000 people can be mobilised from each constituency, said a senior leader.

The leaders, however, admit that mobilising one lakh people from the district was beyond imagination. At the most 15,000 people could be mobilised, if both Machilipatnam and Vijayawada MP Constituencies were put together.

The bill of each bus with a seating capacity of 36 would be not less than Rs.34,000. About 50 persons are likely to be accommodated in each bus to cut the bill, sources say.

Vijayawada MP Constituency in-charge Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), sources say, was pressing in 200 buses for the concluding ceremony. The 200 buses would ferry the cadre from Vijayawada parliamentary constituency alone. The Machilipatnam MP would have to arrange transportation for the cadre from his constituency.

Mr. Nani, it is learnt, has volunteered to foot the bill of food of entire cadre coming from the district. Initially it was suggested to provide pulihora, tamarind rice, packets to the cadre attending the meeting. Later, it was decided to provide breakfast, lunch and sumptuous dinner after the meeting.

It is estimated that around Rs.40 lakh would be required for arranging food and buses as well.
