Students rally highlights eye donation

Hundreds of college and school children took part in a rally organised by the Swetcha Gora Eye Bank, aimed at creating awareness on eye donation, here on Wednesday.

The rally waded through the Benz Circle and M.G. Road before culminating near All India Radio and the students were seen carrying placards highlighting the importance of eye donation and its necessity.

National Social Service wings of Government Ayurvedic Colleges, Government Dental College and Nagarjuna Educational Society, Kanuru, along with volunteers from Vasavyya Mahila Mandali took part in the rally. Swetcha Gora Eye Bank executive director G. Samaram and Secretary G. Rashmi led the rally.

The rally is part of the fortnight long awareness programme that concludes on Thursday at Vasavyya Mahila Mandali which former MP Chennupati Vidya, Prof. I.V. Rao vice-chancellor, NTR University of Health Sciences, and Shalini Devi, District Health Officer will take part.

A series of cultural programmes will be held Vasavyya Mahila Mandali at Benz Circle along with a music programme by the visually impaired students of Vijaya Mary School for which All India Radio Station Director Mangalagiri Aditya Prasad will be chief guest. Prizes will be distributed to winners of the competitions organised by Swetcha Gora Eye Bank in view of the awareness campaign on eye donation.
