Rural SP J. Satyanarayana instructed his officers and staff to gear up for the panchayat elections to be conducted soon in view of the possibility of violent incidents taking place.

In a crime review meeting held here on Wednesday, Mr. Satyanarayana said a close watch needed to be kept on explosives dealers and sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incident.

Counselling should be held for rowdy-sheeters and ‘trouble-mongers’ bound over to ensure that peace prevailed. A watch had also to be kept on persons released from jail.
