State meting out a raw deal to city: CPI(M)

September 26, 2012 01:37 pm | Updated 01:37 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

‘Kiran should make a statement on power crisis’

The CPI(M) city unit has said Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s visit is an egg on face of city people.

Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada on Tuesday, party city secretary Ch. Babu Rao said the State government was meting out step-motherly treatment to the people here.

While cities such as Warangal, Tirupati, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam did not have more than three hours of power-cut, Vijayawada was reeling under prolonged power-cut.

The industry was in doldrums and workers were losing jobs, he said, adding, “The Chief Minister should make a categorical statement in this regard. The people will submit mass memoranda at Ajitsingh Nagar during his visit.”

The government was not releasing the grants and funds due to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

The Congress utterly failed to keep its promises to the people.

Neither were housing projects launched as per schedule and plans nor efforts made to provide housing for the needy.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister was inaugurating the road that was already in use.

He was on a foundation stone-laying spree, Mr. Babu Rao said.

The people would teach a befitting lesson to the government. Their ire at the government’s failure on the power front and non-release of dues cannot be subsided with foundation stones and inaugurations, he said.
